Eric Atkinson was born in Hartlepool in 1928. After studying at the Royal Academy Schools he joined the faculty of Leeds College of Art. In 1963 he became Head of Fine Arts and continued to exhibit his work throughout the U.K. In 1969 he emigrated to Canada and became Dean of Applied Arts at Fanshawe College in London , Ontario . There he created an innovative are education programme which succeeded in integrating music, recording engineering, television production and film with the more traditional fine art disciplines. He has been widely exhibited and is represented in many private and public collections in Europe and North America . A biography “The Incomplete Circle” edited by David Lewis was published by Scholar Press in 2000.
