| "In Bolduc’s work the image becomes a focal point for the activity of painting and the experience of looking. It becomes a way of drawing out the painting’s construction, of extending it, with the associations the images suggest, beyond the circularity of formal painting’s demonstrations of its own existence" (David Burnett & Marilyn Schiff, David Bolduc was born in Toronto in 1945. He studied art at the Ontario College of Art in 1963-64, and then at the Montreal School of Fine Arts & Design in 1965-1966 with J. Goguen and Arthur Lismer. As part of an emerging young and expressive movement in the 1960’s and ‘70’s, David Bolduc has been instrumental in defining contemporary Canadian painting.
