| Alice Burton is an Honours Fine Arts graduate of York University in Toronto majoring in Painting and Drawing. There is a strong emphasis on colour, texture, line and composition in her work She combines a knowledge of art history with the artistic expression of non-western cultures that are rich in iconography pattern and texture. In 2003 her works were on exhibition in Berlin: “Four Abstract Women Artists.” They also were exhibited at the Andulucian Palace in Seville with a New York group of artists : “New York Contemporaneas.” In September 2004 at C2 Gallery in Stoke Hammond, England. In April 2005 she had a solo exhibition at the New Art Center in New York City. In August of the same year she participated in an invitational exhibition “Nord-Sud” along with ten Canadian and Colombian artists at the Galerie Carrion Vivar in Bogata, Colombia. From May to October 2006 She is participating in the exhibtion “Artists’ Odysses: The Arctic” at the Frederick H. Varley Gallery in Unionville , Ontario . In June of 2004 Burton exhibited her abstract landscapes, the “Downriver Series, at the Moore Gallery, Toronto . In 2006, her new paintings, “Riverworks continue the visual interpretation of her immediate environment, inspired by the scenery of South eastern Ontario. They will be on exhibition at the Moore gallery in Toronto from Sept 9-30, 2006.
