"Cameron is a natural, easy painter who has been blessed with whatever the visual equivalent is to perfect pitch. Both his calligraphic shapes and his use of a full range of colour show this. The drawing in his painting is uninhibited and free and is further enhanced by an irrepressible sense of humour. Some of this cheerfulness comes from Raoul Dufy, whom Cameron admires, and more from Jack Bush, for whom Cameron worked as an assistant for several years. Yet Cameron avoids the slick mannerism that slips into both these artists’ works, especially Dufy’s. Cameron’s intent, and his continuing exploration of the old masters, keeps him honest to himself."
